chairman-bigRear Admiral Adeyemi Ambrose Afolahan the chairman of Ila Orangun Unity Association was born in 1945 at Ibadan to Alhaji Lawani Afolahan and Mrs. D Afolahan both from Ila Orangun. He did his primary education at Ondo town 1956 – 1960 and later went to the Nigeria Military School Zaria for his secondary education between 1964 – 1969. He went for officers training course at the Nigeria Defence Academy and passed out in 1970.

He was commissioned into the Nigeria Navy in 1971. Thereafter he went to United Kingdom to complete Junior Officers courses starting from Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth UK.After a few appointments in the Nigeria Navy, he again went to Royal Naval Hydrographic School to become a hydrographic surveyor in the Navy 1974 – 1975. He did his staff course at the Command and Staff College Jaji to prepare him for senior officer appointment 1980 – 1981.

He attended the National War College then in Lagos which is now called National Defence College Abuja 1992 – 1993. In 1996 he went to India to attend another Senior Executive Course at the National Defence College, Delhi, India. He was commanding officer, NNS AGU, Executive Officer NNS ERINOMI, and Navigating Officer NNS LANA. Commandant Nigerian Naval College Onne, Portharcourt.

He was also the Executive Officer the Nigerian Flag Ship, NNS ARADU, Chief Instructor Joint Warfare Division of the Command and Staff College Jaji 1988 – 1990. He later became the Director Academic Research and Analytical Support at the now National Defence College Abuja (1994 - 1995) before becoming the chief of Naval Operations Training and Policy at Naval Head Quarters, Lagos (1997).He held the following Extra Regimental Appointments: Deputy Defence Adviser Cotonou (Republic of Benin) and later became the Defence Adviser.

The pioneer Military Administrator of Taraba State 1991. He was the Deputy Commandant of the National War College (now National Defence College) Abuja. The position he held before he was retired in 1999 when all ex governors and military administrators were retired. He had been a member of various investigation panels. His appointments covered training, administration, operational, financial, welfare and security fields.He’s married to Mrs. Christiana Oyedoyin Afolahan, blessed with male and female children.
